Inks to Colors - Banjo and Kazooie by herms85
Inks to Colors - Banjo and Kazooie
So... I was a Nintendo kid growing up and am definitely a Nintendo adult now - but in my tweens and teens I was pretty hardcore PlayStation with its JRPGs and whatnot. I technically missed out on Banjo Kazooie - a great regret, as the couple times I played the first one at a younger cousin's house I DID really enjoy it. Regrettably I sold my N64 a couple years back - so now that wait is on for an N64 capable Retron! :D

This art is available for purchase! Original pencil and ink drawing on 8.5x11 inch cardstock, along with 8.5x11 inch print of the finished colors. $25 USD. Shipping within the US is included. Shipping outside the US please include additional $10 USD. If interested please contact me via Note or eMail (mattherms@hotmail.com) Thanks!!

Inks to Colors - Crash Bandicoot
So I didn't get a PlayStation until I was 12, around the time Final Fantasy VII came out. FF7 blew my mind in the first five minutes with incredible graphics (those backgrounds, AT LEAST, still hold up) and a string of curse words from Barret. (Cursing was very new and exciting to 12-year-old me.)

BUT, I had played PS1 a few times at my local Target. Remember those game demo stations? They still have 'em but they seem somehow less magical now when you're almost in your 30s. But I remember being GLUED to the PS1 during a Target trip - watching others play or playing myself. Toshinden or - my favorite - Crash Bandicoot.

Still miss this mascot. I know he's not technically the FACE of PlayStation, but for my generation he WAS and it'd be nice to see him come around again.

Rocket Knight Adventures is one of my fave Genesis games. The thing is, I'm a pretty hardcore Nintendo guy when it comes to video games. (I love Sonic, clearly - but my introduction to that fandom was through the comics and cartoons, not the games!)

I HAD a Sega Genesis growing up, but I literally owned only three games for it: Sonic 2, Power Rangers, and Sonic 3D Blast. I rented Rocket Knight one time because "HEY! It's an awesome looking animal mascot like Sonic!" and it was AWESOME. I picked up a Retron 5 over Christmas and Rocket Knight is at the top of my list of old school games I need to pick up and play again!

Sonic Boom 07 Cover
Been awhile since I've uploaded anything! Here's a recent cover for Sonic Boom issue 07, drawn by Jamal Peppers and inked by Rick Bryant! This was a really fun one to do, and it uses my all-time fave color scheme: Bright blue Sonic in a yellow-y orange desert setting! :D This one should be hitting the stands in a month or two!

:: PAYMENT ::

Please contact me by e-Mail at mattherms@hotmail.com or via Note to discuss your commission and confirm my availability.

Payment is due up front upon acceptance of your commission via PayPal (herms85@gmail.com). Turnaround on pin-ups is typically within a day, full illustrations two to three days.

:: FAQ ::

 Why no drawing commissions?

I work almost exclusively as a colorist these days, so I am crazy out-of-practice at the drawing board and it would take me forever to finish a piece.

I commissioned you at so-and-so convention ages ago! Where’s my art??

Do I owe ya’ something? PLEASE contact me ASAP via mattherms@hotmail.com!

I haven’t been to conventions in over three years due to my busy schedule, and there are five pieces that were meant to be picked up at other shows that have been sitting around for quite some time now. Either I’ve misplaced your contact info during a move or efforts to contact you have failed. So please get in touch with me so I can get your art to you!
