So a li’l back-story to accompany the joke: My buddy Gary looks a lot like Kevin Smith – and identical to Silent Bob when he cosplays. Our friend Trunks looks a little like Jason Mewes, aka Jay. Put these two together at an anime convention, and you get crowds.

Anyhow, Trunks used to intern at Antarctic Press – doing heavy lifting and flatting for comics, and possibly a bit of fluffing which he enjoyed way more than he should have. Cut to Anime Fest in 2005 – it’s been another slow year for everybody, sales numbers could be higher, and it’s the last day. The AP boys at the con (allegedly) coerce Trunks into stripping – or putting clothes back on, if scrawny long-haired white boys don’t fit your fancy – for sales. I draw up the sign, Gary brings in the crowd, and Trunks gets down to his tighty-whities. Good times.

It kinda’ became a gimmick at every con after. Trunks doesn’t strip anymore, though – he’s off the pole. And Gary’s a hard man to get to a con – he’s only made it out to A-Kon and A-Fest in the last year. But ah, the memories. ;D
